Martin Soekefeld is Professor and Head of Department of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at LMU Munich. His research interests include the anthropology of politics, “natural” disasters, migration, diaspora and transnationalism, theory of identity, Islam, and Alevism. He has a regional speciality in South Asia, with particular interest in Northern Pakistan (Gilgit-Baltistan) and Kashmir. Soekefeld has written a number of books and articles, including the recently edited Spaces of Conflict in Everyday Life: Perspectives across Asia (2015).
