MAX KRAMER

Postdoctoral Researcher

Max Kramer is currently working on a post-doctoral research project within ONLINERPOL at the Ludwigs Maximilians University, Munich. He has received training in Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Heidelberg, where he was awarded his Magister Artium.

Max completed his PhD at the Humboldt University, Berlin as a member of the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies (BGSMCS). His dissertation analyses documentary film practices related to the Kashmir Conflict. After the completion of his PhD, he was lecturer in Modern South Asia Studies and Hindi at the Institute of Indology and Central Asia Studies, University of Leipzig. He has also co-produced and edited documentary films on South-Asia related topics.

His primary research interests include sociolinguistics of media-use, documentary film in South Asia, politics and media culture, and cultural theory.
